NASBE Launches High School Transformation State Network Advisory Councils

NASBE is pleased to announce the formation of two advisory councils to support its High School Transformation State Network (HSTSN).

The first Network Advisory Council comprises national leaders, researchers, and advocates who are committed to redesigning the high school experience and improving alignment across education and workforce sectors to enable local innovation that best supports students. Its members will advise NASBE on how to foster systems change, provide feedback on project deliverables, share relevant research and materials, and create opportunities for researchers, practitioners, subject-matter experts to collaborate. A key task for this group will be to develop a common definition of high school transformation to guide the network’s learning agenda.

Organizations represented in the HSTSN Advisory Council include:

  • Advance CTE
  • Aurora Institute
  • The BARR Center
  • Carnegie Foundation For the Advancement of Teaching
  • Education Commission of the States
  • Education Resource Strategies
  • The Education Trust
  • Evelyn & Walter Haas Jr. Fund
  • The GRAD Partnership
  • Jobs For the Future
  • Learning Policy Institute
  • Mastery Transcript Consortium
  • National Association of College Admission Counseling
  • Southern Regional Education Board
  • Teach Plus
  • XQ

NASBE has also established a Student Advisory Council to support the HSTSN work. Ten high school students currently serving on state boards of education in California, Delaware, Guam, Kentucky, Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, New Jersey, and Nevada, have joined this council to collaborate with state policymakers and develop student-centered high school reform policies that will transform high school.

“This project recognizes the critical role of state and national partnerships, informed by students’ lived experiences, in driving systemic changes that will make the high school years meaningful and valuable for all students,” said NASBE President and CEO Paolo DeMaria.
