The only organization dedicated solely to helping state boards advance equity and excellence in public education.

According to NASBE bylaws, the association may take positions on education-related issues of concern at the state and national levels. The Public Education Positions Committee, with representation from each member state, reviews and develops these positions and the NASBE membership at large adopts them.

NASBE’s public education positions were last revised in October 2023. Specifically, “Section B: Assessment, Accountability, Accreditation, and School Improvement” and “Section H. High School Design for Student Success” were added. Prior versions of NASBE’s positions are available upon request.
