Randy Spaulding

Randy Spaulding serves as board chair of the National Council of State Boards of Education Executives (NCSBEE), an affiliate of NASBE, and is an ex officio member of NASBE’s board. He has served as the executive director for the Washington State Board of Education since 2018. Spaulding has worked in education policy in Washington for over 20 years, previously as director of academic affairs and policy at the Washington Student Achievement Council and Higher Education Coordinating Board. He has also worked in student services and financial aid at the University of Washington Bothell. Spaulding holds a Ph.D. in education policy and leadership studies from the University of Washington.
