Supporting Student Mental Health during the Return to School

The COVID-19 pandemic put many students in virtual-only education where they experienced social isolation from their school community in addition to the racial injustice, economic uncertainty, and health concerns they and their families faced during that time. States are well-positioned to take a comprehensive, whole child developmental approach in planning summer enrichment activities and preparing for fall reopening to ensure all students return to safe and supportive learning environments and supports that will help them thrive. Learn how California, Illinois, and Kentucky are working to empower educators and schools to address student mental wellness during pandemic recovery.

Speakers on this webinar include:

  • Cara Wiley, Director of School Wellness, Illinois State Board of Education
  • Kathryn Tillett, Project AWARE Director, Division of Student Success, Student Engagement, and Support, Office of Continuous Improvement, Kentucky Department of Education
  • Monica Nepomuceno, Education Programs Consultant, Mental Health Services Program, California Department of Education
