New Hampshire has developed a system that emphasizes 21st century knowledge, skills, and dispositions while establishing strong expectations and the means for implementing them. Key aspects of the New Hampshire’s effort include layering competency-based standards such as “work study practices” on top of the state-adopted Common Core Standards; administering strong assessments and accountability, including common and performance-based assessments and growth measures; and emphasizing educator support and professional development.
