Elizabeth Tegtmeier was elected to the Nebraska State Board of Education in November of 2022 for a four-year term. In January 2024, she was elected by board president by her fellow board members. Tegtmeier has served as chair of her board’s Rules and Regulations committee which oversees policy and governance. She has also served on her board’s Executive and Budget committees. She has a strong passion for literacy and has recently joined the board of the Nebraska Dyslexia Association.

Tegtmeier, a Nebraska native, holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and a Master of Arts in Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She holds a current Nebraska teaching certificate and has taught in the three areas of K-12 education the board oversees.
