Summer Learning: Exploring the State Role (2011)

The National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) held a webinar September 1, 2011 that explores the connection between summer learning programs and student achievement. Sponsored by The Wallace Foundation, the webinar highlights recent research on summer learning loss, the role that summer learning programs can play to improve student achievement and effective elements of summer learning programs.

Catherine Augustine, Senior Policy Researcher, RAND, highlights the findings of the recently released Wallace-sponsored report, “Making Summer Count: How Summer Programs Can Boost Children’s Learning.” Dr. Augustine will review the latest research on summer learning loss, the positive impact that summer learning programs can have on student achievement and examples of successful programs.
