Introductory Training on Leading for Equity and Excellence

Despite the prominent role race and cultural diversity play in our society, few safe spaces exist for policymakers and others to have open, honest dialogue about educational inequity. It is one reason why policymakers, educators, and communities continue to grapple with achievement gaps and racial disparities.

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) underscores state policymakers’ responsibility for addressing inequity in education. Through NASBE’s Leading for Equity and Excellence Project (LEEP), members of state boards of education can build skills that will enable them to develop and implement state policies that promote equity and equality. They will also gain the confidence needed to engage in more meaningful conversations about the intersection of race, inequity, and academic achievement. Join NASBE for a special member-only webinar to learn about the LEEP project, how to become involved, and how to use a protocol for evaluating policy work through an equity lens.
