ESSA Reporting: How to Present Data Clearly, Accessibly

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires states to annually report on education indicators at the state, district, and school levels, including data they use in their accountability systems. Presenting data clearly and accessibly to parents, teachers, policymakers, and other community leaders is essential for states committed to ensuring equity throughout ESSA implementation.

Last summer, the Data Quality Campaign (DQC) examined state report cards from all 50 states and DC. They found that while all states create annual report cards with important information about student progress, these reports are often difficult to find and understand.

Join NASBE on February 8, 2017, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm for a discussion with DQC’s Brennan McMahon Parton of the findings of “Show Me the Data,” as well as recommendations for improving states’ report cards. NASBE’s Abigail Potts will act as moderator and will highlight state best practices on reporting.
