Arlington, VA — A statement by Bradley Hull, Interim Executive Director of the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE), on the release of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS):
“NASBE supports the independent development of rigorous standards to help students better become college-, career- and civic-ready. Our NGSS initiative is designed to help state boards more thoroughly understand these new standards—including the process of their development—as well as the implications for their adoption and implementation. This understanding will assist them in making wise decisions regarding whether or not they are right for the students of their state.”
The NASBE NGSS initiative has already produced a written resource and a webinar to help state education policymakers learn more about the NGSS, both of which may be found on the NASBE web site. The initiative will produce additional resources for state boards throughout the year.
