Clarification of NASBE Position on New Funding for Education
Arlington, VA — Brenda Welburn, executive director of the National Association of State Boards of Education, issued the following in response to President Obama’s proposed American Jobs Act:
“Recognizing that education is a vital component of the U.S. economy, NASBE believes any jobs proposal should include a plan to help keep teachers in classrooms and put contractors to work renovating and modernizing those same classrooms. We commend the president for including teachers and school construction in his remarks to Congress.”
This should not be considered an endorsement of any specific proposal or legislation.
