NASBE has made the difficult decision to cancel its upcoming Legislative Conference, March 22-24, 2020, in Washington, DC, with the full support of our executive committee. We share your concerns over the spread of COVID-19, so we canceled the conference out of an abundance of caution.
We know that our members, colleagues, and friends look forward to the networking and learning opportunities this conference offers every year. We have been planning this conference for many months and are deeply disappointed that we cannot welcome our members to DC. But the health of our members, attendees, and speakers is paramount. We decided to eliminate any risk that they could be exposed to the coronavirus on our watch.
Although the in-person conference will not take place, we are exploring options to host several virtual sessions so all NASBE members can benefit from the professional learning we had planned. Details will be announced soon.
We have much work to do to cancel commitments associated with a conference of this magnitude, so we appreciate your patience as we sort them out. We will be contacting all registrants this week on next steps regarding registration refunds and hotel cancellations. It is important that you cancel your travel arrangements.
Again, we regret this cancellation and the inconvenience it causes our members and conference registrants, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding. Look for further communications from us in the next few days. If you need immediate assistance, contact Sharon Cannon
