Project Director - Center for Safe and Healthy Schools
Serves as the Center for Safe and Healthy Schools' HIV Prevention Project Director for the CDC-funded project under its Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH). Provides customized technical assistance and capacity-building assistance to DASH-funded state education agencies and large school districts to help strengthen school-based HIV prevention policies and programs.
Steve Berlin
Senior Communications Manager
Serves as NASBE's principal external communications contact. He is also managing editor of NASBE's policy journal, The State Education Standard, and is editor of NASBE’s e-publications – the weekly Headline Review and the monthly Healthline Review. Steve also has a hand in editing much of the published content produced by NASBE, and is content coordinator of the NASBE website.
Kimberly Charis
Project Director - Center for Safe and Healthy Schools
As the director of NASBE's school discipline initiative, Kimberly is working to raise the consciousness of state policymakers on issues related to the so-called school-to-prison pipeline. This work centers around increasing the capacity of state boards of education to build effective statewide networks that improve students' educational outcomes and reduce their involvement in the juvenile justice system. She also leads business development on issues related to youth sport concussion and academic achievement.
Rachelle Chiang
Project Associate - Health Policies Database
Responsible for managing the School Health Policy Database of the Center for Safe and Healthy Schools. Serves part-time tracking new legislation, maintaining current content and responding to user inquiries.
Francis Eberle
Project Director - Next Generation Science Standards
As the Director of NASBE’s Next Generation Science Standards project, Francis will work with state boards of education so that they better understand the science standards and the implications for the implementing them. This effort is to ensure state boards have a strong knowledge base of the science standards so they can make informed decisions about communications, state plans and, if they choose, to adopt and implement the Next Generation Science Standards.  The following support will be available to state boards of education: Policy Updates, online support, Regional Symposia, individualized assistance, and a communication toolkit. State boards will also have the opportunity to learn from each other.
Jason Gentili
Director of Information Technology
Manages the information technology department in accordance with organizational policies and goals. Ensures proper functioning of company's information processing system and makes upgrades as necessary. Helps business operations utilize information systems to improve efficiency. Keeps computer equipment, hardware, and software updated to meet organizational needs. Follows appropriate programming procedures. Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
Bradley Hull
Deputy Executive Director
Brad Hull's education and experience extends from classical music performer, to college instructor, policy maker, education researcher, and administrator. He demonstrates expertise in research methods in the education/social sciences and in history/cultural studies, extensive and varied experiences in teaching and educational leadership, and working knowledge of public policy development and of legislative and advocacy processes. Currently Dr. Hull is the Deputy Executive Director and Chief of Staff at the National Association of State Boards of Education. Working closely with the Executive Directory/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Hull works to ensure the comprehensive implementation of the strategic plan, functions alongside the Executive Director as the voice of NASBE, develops and strengthens partnerships and relations with other organizations and education constituents, and oversees all staff and department functions. Kristie Jones
Executive Assistant
Provides administrative support primarily to NASBE's Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director, and the Board of Directors. Prepares materials for the Board and transcribes minutes from Board meetings. Other tasks include conference preparations, word processing, mailings to the Board of Directors and NASBE committee members, and regular phone contact with the Board of Directors and state board members across the country.
LeeNaura King
Administrative Assistant/Receptionist
Fulfills publication requests and maintains records of all publication activity. provides assistance to Chief Financial Officer, Office Manager & Meeting Planner. Also, acts as liaison to the IT Director in maintenance of NASBE support infra-structure and office equipment. In addition, assists NASBE staff with mailings and other administrative duties.
David Kysilko
Chief Knowledge Officer/Director of Publications
Editor of NASBE's policy journal, The State Education Standard, David is also responsible for developing and editing or writing all other documents included in NASBE's Member Information Resources Binder, as well as the major NASBE reports and other published materials of the Association. He oversees NASBE's publications division, which in addition to printed materials includes the Chair's Headline Review, the content of the website, desktop publishing, working with designers and printers, marketing, sales, answering inquiries from state board members or the public about NASBE's publications.
Whitney Meagher
Project Director - Center for Safe and Healthy Schools
Project Director for the Center for Safe and Healthy Schools by working with state and local education agencies to help strengthen policies and programs. Researches and writes on various school health policy issues.
Ace Parsi
Project Specialist-Deeper Learning Project
Ace Parsi is a Project Specialist working on Deeper Learning issues.  He is the main point of contact related to this work and as part of the Deeper Learning work, Ace builds partnership coalitions, authors resources such as Policy Updates and a Deeper Learning Discussion Guide, provides individualized assistance to state boards, plans and conducts in-state tailored workshops on deeper learning, coordinates speakers and agendas for conference sessions and online seminars, and promotes positive communications strategies for state boards and NASBE.
Jeff Pollard
Chief Financial Officer
Responsible for all financial matters of the association, including the daily accounting of receivables, payables, and cash management, as well as payroll. Assists in the development of annual budgets and provides monthly financial statements and budget reports for use by management. Responsible for producing individualized monthly financial reports for specific projects for use by project directors and for the filing of all financial reporting requirements to funding agencies. Coordinates and oversees the annual audit of the association.
