Pre-Conference Session Registration
NASBE is offering one pre-conference session: “Data Boot Camp.” There is no additional fee for this session, but pre-registration is required.
I don’t want to attend the whole conference. Can I register for only the pre-conference sessions or a single day?
Yes. If you want to attend only one day of the Annual Conference, please select “single day registration” when you register for the day you plan to attend. Likewise, if you wish to attend a pre-conference session and nothing else, select only the pre-conference registration options.
Does NASBE make my hotel reservation?
No, all conference attendees are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. Please call the hotel directly at (404) 365-0065 or connect via its online reservation website to make your room reservation. To guarantee NASBE’s special group rate of $179 per night (plus applicable taxes), you must make your reservation no later than Monday, October 9, 2017. After that time, higher rates will apply and rooms may not be available. Please identify yourself as a NASBE Conference attendee.
Making a reservation in NASBE’s room block is important. Meeting our financial obligations to the Westin for our room block has a long-term benefit: It helps NASBE negotiate lower rates for our conferences in the future, and it lowers your out-of-pocket travel costs. When we fill our contracted room block, we avoid unnecessary financial penalties, which strengthen our negotiation efforts in the future to keep annual conference costs manageable.
How far away is the hotel from the airport? Are there airport shuttles available?
Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (ATL) is roughly 19 miles (30-minute drive) from the Westin Buckhead Atlanta, or about a $40 taxi ride. The hotel is conveniently located near public transportation, with a MARTA station (Buckhead Station) one block away. MARTA fare is $2.50 one-way and operates 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM, Monday through Friday, and 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM Saturday and Sunday.
NASBE has also made arrangements with Atlanta Shuttle for discounted airport transportation. Conference attendees can make arrangements through this website using the discount code “NASBE.” With this discount, shuttle fare is $24/person one-way, and $48/person round trip.
What else is there to do in Atlanta while I’m there for the conference?
Plenty! Take a look at this Atlanta calendar of events to see what activities are scheduled during the conference. And, sign up to use a Atlanta Hospitality Savings Pass for discounts on hundreds of nearby attractions.
How do I access “PDA” funds for NASBE’s annual conference?
NASBE Professional Development Accounts (PDA) provide support to state board members who wish to participate in NASBE activities such as attending conferences, regional meetings, travel and other related activities. It is a perfect way to fund your trip to NASBE’s Annual Conference 2017! If your state has set up a PDA with NASBE, individual members may use available funds by downloading and filling out a withdrawal request form. Additional information about PDA funds can be found here, including instructions for checking your state’s PDA balance.
Are there sponsorship or advertising opportunities during the conference?
Yes! If you are interested in becoming a NASBE annual conference sponsor, please contact Annie Hughes. If you wish to purchase advertising space in our conference program, read through your options here, and contact NASBE Editorial Director Valerie Norville.
