Bring your laptop or tablet to access information on the webDear New State Board Member:
On behalf of the NASBE Board of Directors and staff, I am so very pleased to welcome you to NASBE’s 23rd Annual New State Board Members Institute — a collegial professional learning experience designed to help you navigate your responsibilities as a state education policymaker.
On this web page you will find links to all sorts of resources and references for the Institute. Be sure to bookmark this page so that you can return here frequently before, during, and after the Institute. And don’t forget to puruse our entire NASBE web site to learn more about our work on your behalf.
As you will see from the agenda, the Institute includes an exciting array of big ideas presentations, panel discussions, facilitated small group conversations, and even social media dialogues. We have reserved ample time for reflection, review, and networking so that you may share your ideas and insights with your new colleagues from around the country.
As with our previous institutes this gathering will be a special opportunity to examine the education policy landscape, explore the roles of state boards in public education, and think big together about the future. You will also have a chance to learn more about NASBE as your professional organization and the resources available to you through our highly valued community of education leaders.
To help you during the Institute, we have a terrific group of mentors and staff who are experienced and knowledgeable. I hope you will take advantage of what they have to offer you as a new member of your Board. If there is anything we can do to make your stay in the Washington metropolitan area a greater experience, I hope you will not hesitate to ask.
We all look forward to getting to know you during our time together. Welcome to NASBE!
Best regards,
Jim Kohlmoos
