Arlington, Va. — The National Association of State Boards of Education named David Kysilko the organization’s first Chief Knowledge Officer. Kysilko has been NASBE’s Director of Publications for 20 years and is founder and editor of NASBE’s journal, The State Education Standard, as well as many other association publications.
In his new role, Kysilko will leverage his continuing responsibilities and experience in publications by tracking, interpreting and disseminating vital education policy information and research-based knowledge to board members and stakeholders. In addition, his expertise will continue to place NASBE’s collective policy experience in context in an ever-changing education landscape.
“Dave’s experience and expertise place him at the hub of the work for which NASBE is so highly regarded,” said NASBE Executive Director Jim Kohlmoos. “His work as an editor is not and has never been limited to points of style and grammar, but rather includes—quite critically—his ability to comprehend and distill the information before him for use by state board members. Dave’s new title is recognition of the expertise he already has, but also places him even closer to the center of what we hope to accomplish moving forward as an honest broker of evidence-based policy and practice.”
