Welcome to the State Board of Education web site. Members of the Colorado State Board of Education are charged by the Colorado Constitution with the general supervision of the public schools. They have numerous powers and duties specified in state law. Individuals are elected on a partisan basis to serve six-year terms without pay.

The State Board of Education has improved the format of its electronic agenda.  The link to access the agenda is http://www.boarddocs.com/co/cde/Board.nsf/Public. This link contains the agendas for the current and most recent board meetings. The State Board hopes that this format will provide greater access and information to the education community and the public.

Upcoming State Board Events:

  • Tuesday, January 13, 2009, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Swearing-In Ceremony for new state board members Angelika Schroeder from the 2nd Congressional District and Marcia Neal from the 3rd Congressional District and incumbent recently-elected board members Elaine Gantz Berman from the 1st Congressional District and Jane Goff from the 7th Congressional District. The ceremony and reception will be held in the lobby of the Colorado Department of Education.
  • Wednesday, January 14, 2009 Regular Board Meeting 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • The Board Meeting on January 15, 2009 has been cancelled.
  • Friday, January 30, 2009, 2:30 p.m. Legislative Update with the Colorado State Board of Education. CDE staff will brief the state board on current legislative initiatives in education.
  • The Board Meetings on February 11 and 12, 2009 have been cancelled.
  • Wednesday, February 18, 2009 Regular Board Meeting from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • 2:30 p.m. Rulemaking Hearing on the Rules for the Administration of the Alternative Teacher Compensation Plan Grant Program, 1 CCR 301-80.
    • 3:00 p.m. Charter School Appeal: In Re: The Nature School vs. Poudre Valley School District R-1.
