The HIV prevention project is funded through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Division of Adolescent and School Health (DASH). The agreement seeks to strengthen state and local education agencies‘ capacity to promote HIV, STD, and pregnancy prevention among school-aged youth.  To that end, NASBE’s HIV prevention project works to inform education policymakers about the importance of school-based HIV prevention efforts, illuminate best practices, assist with policy development, and provide support for state-level prevention initiatives.
