Dr. Chris Ward retired in 2004 as the Lockport Township High School District #205 (LTHSD) Superintendent after having served in that position for over thirteen years. At Lockport THSD he led a team of staff and community volunteers to pass two referenda to increase the education fund to renovate and expand the district’s education facilities. He used creative leadership and strategic planning skills in guiding the district into a systemic approach of professional development improving curriculum and student learning in an environment in which the student population was increasing at an average of 100 students per year. Dr. Ward participated on the NASBE 2006 Civic Learning Study Group. He is also a past member of AASA and IASA where he served in leadership of the IASA Three Rivers Division.

In addition to serving as State Board Vice Chair, Dr. Chris Ward is Chairman of the Board Operations Committee and a member of the Governmental Relations Committee. Governor Blagojevich appointed him in September 2004 and his term will expire in January 2009.
