Thomas Brewster is a graduate of Bluefield College, Radford University, and Virginia Tech, where he earned his doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies. He has served as a classroom teacher, school administrator, and university professor. Appointed by Governor Tim Kaine, Dr. Brewster serves on the Virginia State Board of Education. In addition, Brewster serves on the Virginia Career Education Foundation, the Commonwealth Educational Roundtable, and as Vice-Chairman on the local advisory board for Southwest Virginia Community College. Thomas is married to Debra. They have three children London, Sahara, and Milan.
