Coordinates all of NASBE's national, legislative, and political activities that relate to federal education and children's legislation, appropriations, and regulations. Is also responsible for media relations and external communications. Activities within the Office of Governmental Affairs include: communicating with and providing guidance to Congress and federal agencies on all matters concerning education legislation and funding; acting as liaison and coordinating with other education-related organizations and coalitions; providing pertinent information to the Governmental Affairs Committee; alerting state boards regarding critical federal matters; and drafting testimony for members of state boards of education and NASBE for presentation before Congressional committees. |
